Attention: Buyer’s Agents
If you’re a listing agent working with clients who are considering or pursuing a short sale of a property where Fannie Mae is the first lien holder, visit the HomePath Short Sale portal to get started.
Fannie Mae has developed this one-stop resource in an effort to help you:
- Request list price guidance directly from Fannie Mae before listing your client’s property and receive ongoing support while actively marketing the property;
- Submit an accepted contract on properties where the loans are owned by Fannie Mae, view the status of your case, and benefit from the 24-hr convenience and transparency of the system; and
- Retrieve required forms and helpful fact sheets for you and your clients.

If you’re a homeowner that is interested in learning more about selling your home as a short sale, visit Know Your Options.
If your mortgage company agrees to a short sale, you can sell your home and pay off a portion of your mortgage balance with the proceeds and avoid foreclosure. If Fannie Mae is the first lien holder, we work with the mortgage company that services your loan (i.e. collects your mortgage payments) to communicate with you throughout the short sale process. We provide guidance to the servicer around who is eligible for a short sale, the property listing price, and acceptable contract terms and closing costs.Know Your Options
